Ikoné celebrates netting in Paris FC's win over AS Monaco

Paris FC's incredible run under Antoine Kombouaré continued as they dispatched AS Monaco, who had been on a rampant run prior to their visit to the Stade Jean Bouin (4-1).

Two goals inside eight minutes for Les Parisiens

Kombouaré's reign as manager at Paris FC got underway with a 1-0 win over OGC Nice at the start at March, and in mid-April, he has yet to taste defeat since taking charge. Having drawn against Strasbourg and Lyon, Paris FC nonetheless approached the game against Monaco as underdogs.

The Principality club were the in-form side in Ligue 1 McDonald's since the start of 2026 and, on a seven-game winning run, came into this one off the back of wins against Lyon and Marseille.

However, they were immediately on the backfoot here. Within four minutes, Jonathan Ikoné gave his side the lead (4'). Within eight minutes, it had been doubled by Ciro Immobile (8'), who showed his striker's instincts to work a couple of yards an blast an emphatic effort past Lukas Hradecky (8').

Monaco were reeling and they would find themselves even further behind when Ikoné doubled his account on the night (21'). Folarin Balogun's goal reduced the deficit (36'), but Sébastien Pocognoli's side still found themselves with a mountain to climb in the second half if they wished to salvage anything from the game and continue their charge towards the Champions League places.

3 wins, 3 draws for Kombouaré at Paris FC

However, in search of goals, there were naturally spaces to exploit and chances for Paris FC, who had their own objectives. They knew that a win over Monaco would all but ensure that they would be playing in Ligue 1 McDonald's next season and Luca Koleosho's goal, Paris FC's fourth on the night (71'), ensured that they would take all three points here, even despite the return of Paul Pogba, who came off the bench for Monaco midway through the second half.

It was a shock result, even if Les Parisiens' form under Kombouaré has been excellent of late. It is also a result that leaves Pocognoli with an unwanted record. Since taking charge of Les Monégasques, succeeding Adi Hutter in October, he has now lost against all three of the sides promoted from Ligue 2 BKT last season.

Kombouaré and Paris FC are now increasingly confident of securing their safety in Ligue 1 McDonald's. Since the former's arrival, the latter have a record of three wins and three draws.
