Brunner doubles up as Monaco go top
In the final game of Matchday Two in Ligue 1 McDonald's, Paris Brunner struck a double to lead AS Monaco past rivals Olympique de Marseille, 2-0 -- get the latest from the Ligue 1 McDonald's team.
A familiar XI
Despite only having played on Thursday in their Conference League league phase qualifying match, there were few changes for Filipe Luis as he set out his starting lineup against one of the Principality's biggest rivals in OM. It was much of the same for the visitors as well, who were looking to build on an impressive 4-0 win over RC Strasbourg last Friday. l'OM would have to make do without Igor Paixão, however, as rumours swirled around the Brazilian winger's potential departure.
Despite the short layoff, and having their own absentee owing to a potential move away in Folarin Balogun, it was the hosts who started the brighter, with Paris Brunner -- the American's replacement in leading the line -- rising highest to head home a delightful ball over the top by Aleksandr Golovin (13'). But other than a few speculative efforts from range, Marseille offered no response and Monaco would take their lead into halftime.

Brunner doubles up
Into the second half, the young German striker was at it again, doubling the lead as he battled through a raft of Marseille defenders to score from Eric Dier's long goal kick. Later in the half, Brunner was nearly found again by Golovin, but the former Borussia Dortmund man would have to settle for a double.
With the win, AS Monaco now sit top of the Ligue 1 McDonald's table after two rounds of play, making their trip to the French capital to face holders Paris Saint-Germain on Friday all the more intriguing.

It's been 18 years since Grenoble (2006/7) that only one Ligue 1 McDonald's side has won their first two matches.
