Ligue 3 Betclic: Cannes register first win, Bastia beat Caen

AS Cannes secured their first win since their return to France's third tier, whilst there was also a surprise defeat for one of Ligue 3 Betclic's promotion favourites, SM Caen.

The three points came at the first time of asking. In their first two games, Les Cannois had drawn their first two games of the league campaign but saved their best performance for in front of their own fans on Saturday.

Mathieu Chabert's side took the lead in just the sixth minute through Léandro Morante before Cédric Goncalves gave his side some breathing room early in the second half. A comfortable day at the office for a side that some have tipped as potential outsiders for promotion to Ligue 2 BKT this season.

Caen 0-1 Bastia

It has been an up-and-down start to life at Caen for Gael Clichy. Their campaign started with an emphatic win, and continued with a loss to Thionville Lusitanos in a seven-goal thriller. They returned to winning ways in their next game, against Aubagne, but their season of contrasting fortunes continued when they welcomed Corsican side Bastia on Thursday night.

Clément Rodrigues scored the only goal of the game in the third minute and there was no response from Caen. The Corsican side's start to the Ligue 3 Betclic campaign has also been inconsistent; they now have the same record as their opponents on Thursday: two wins, two losses. Both should be up there come the end of the campaign.

Thionville Lusitanos 1-1 Paris 13 Atletico

The only 100% record in Ligue 3 Betclic came to an end this weekend. Thionville Lusitanos had been the surprise package in the opening three gameweeks of the league season, winning all of their fixtures. However, they were held by Paris 13 Atletico, who have had a fine start to the season themselves.

Karim Bouhmidi put Thionville up from the spot on the stroke of the hour, but Noa Donat, also from the spot, levelled up just eight minutes later and so the shares were spoiled. The home side remain top but now only on goal difference.

Villefranche 0-2 Rouen

One of the three teams tied at the top of Ligue 3 Betclic table with 10 points is Rouen. They ensured that they took all three points thanks to a second-half brace from Malik Tchoukounté. Villefranche, meanwhile, are in a spot of bother towards the bottom of the standings.

Orléans 0-1 La Roche

The final team tied at the top is La Roche. They won their first two before being held by the unbeaten Cannes. But this week they returned to winning ways. Mansour Samb got the only goal. With six goals, he is currently the division's top scorer.
