PSG complete spectacular injury-time comeback in Lille

Paris Saint-Germain made a spectacular injury-time comeback in Lille to salvage a second 2-2 draw in two games.

PSG headed to Lille having failed to win their Ligue 1 McDonald's opener for the first time since 2023 and a goalless draw against Lorient. Only once in the last 10 years (between May and August 2023) have Les Parisiens failed to win in four consecutive games against French clubs.

Having lost against Paris FC on the final day of the last Ligue 1 McDonald's season, then to RC Lens in the Trophée des Champions before drawing to Rennes on the opening day of this league campaign, they were at risk of equalling that unwanted record as they travelled to the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Lille would be no easy picking either. They ensured a winning start to the Davide Ancelotti when they travelled to Toulouse last weekend (0-2). Les Dogues would also have been buoyed by the absence of Ousmane Dembélé, although they themselves were without one of their key marksmen, Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

LOSC needed those on the pitch to step up, and they did so spectacularly. Olivier Giroud played the no-look pass into Hakon Haraldsson, who rifled into the top corner (21'). Prior to that, Les Dogues had almost taken the lead through Giroud, who latched onto an Ethan Mbappé cross and forced Matvey Safonov into a strong save (8').

Les Parisiens were struggling and for much of the night, it looked as though they would take nothing back to the Capital. Dilane Bakwa, signed on loan from Nottingham Forest in midweek, came on for his debut midway through the second half.

The former RC Strasbourg Alsace man wasted no time in making his impact felt. The France youth international doubled Lille's advantage late on with a curled effort into the top corner (84'). It looked the final blow, and Ancelotti, with his father, Carlo, in attendance, was on course for a famed victory.

Two injury-time goals seal dramatic comeback

But PSG are a team that are never beaten. They came back from two down last week and they defied the odds to do so again here. Vitinha curled an incredible effort beyond Berke Ozer to reduce the deficit to just one at the start of extra time (90+1').

And with the final kick - or header - of the game, they levelled. Marquinhos rose highest in the LOSC box and put his header in the far corner (90+5'). Ozer didn't even move. Elation in the PSG dugout, despair for Lille.

Both sides remain unbeaten this season, but PSG remain winless in four games against French teams, an unwanted record for a team that set such high standards.
