Angers' van den Boomen netted a long-range stunner

There was late drama in the Ligue 1 McDonald's multiplex as Angers and Troyes registered their first wins of the league season.

Auxerre 1-3 Angers

Will Still remains winless since his return to Ligue 1 McDonald's. The former Lens manager lost at his former club last weekend (5-2). There were mitigating circumstances at the Bollaert as Auxerre spent an hour down to 10 men. However, back at the Stade de l'Abbé-Deschamps, L'AJA sought to put in a better showing.

Branco Van Den Boomen, on his return to Angers this summer, scored a contender for goal of the season with his long-range firecracker. Lens loanee Rémy Labeau-Lascary restored parity before the break, but Stéphane Gilli's men would retake the lead through Harona Djibirin. The Angers player profited from a loose ball inside the box and Amine El Ouazzani then gave his side a cushion and put them on the brink of their first win of the season. Auxerre failed to get back into the game and remain on 0 points and now with a goal difference of -5.

Brest 2-2 Toulouse

Both Brest and Toulouse went in search of their first wins of the campaign in Brittany on Saturday night. Jacen Russell-Rowe gave the visitors the lead before Kamory Doumbia restored parity moments later; another potential goal-of-the-season contender from the Brest playmaker. But Jens Berthel Askou, still finding his feet with Le TéFéCé, saw his side take the lead once again, this time thanks to a header from new signing Christ Tapé.

Les Ty-Zéfs pushed for a winner late on and it was the ever-reliable Ludovic Ajorque who got the last-gasp injury-time equaliser with a looped header.

Lorient 1-2 Troyes

Back in Ligue 1 McDonald's for the first time since 2023, Troyes were another side in search of a first victory. They secured a point against Paris FC last weekend, but would take all three points against Lorient in what was Alexandre Dujeux's first game as manager at the Moustoir.

Renaud Ripart netted the opener from the spot before Lucas Maronnier then doubled the advantage for Stéphane Dumont's side. Jean-Victor Makengo halved the deficit for Lorient, and whilst Montassar Talbi had a chance to level the scores in the dying moments, L'ESTAC ensured that Les Merlus would not get their first win of the season in Ligue 1 McDonald's.
