In a pulsating encounter against Belgian side Louvain, Davide Ancelotti's Dogues flexed their attacking muscles, with Ethan Mbappé netting a double, and new signing Basar Önal also getting on the scoresheet.

Paris FC 2-2 Stuttgart

Having permanently returned to the club last week, Luca Koleosho celebrated in style as Liam Rosenior's side continued their sterling run of play. The Italian winger netted a double in a convincing win against a side which finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season. 

RC Strasbourg 4-3 Brighton 

Despite taking an early lead thanks to goals by Samuel Amo-Ameyaw and Martial Godo, Hugo Olivieira's team were eventually defeated in Vienna by the English side 

RC Lens 3-1 Villarreal

In a matchup of two teams set to play in the Champions League this season, Le Sang et Or emerged victorious, with Matthieu Udol, Florian Thauvin and Rayan Fofana all finding the net. 

In other matches on Saturday, promoted Le Mans beat Angers 3-2, while Auxerre drew with Sochaux one-all and Stade Brestois played out a three-all encounter with Breton rivals Guingamp.

Stade Rennais 3-3 Galatasaray 

In a thrilling encounter at RAMS park in Istanbul, Rennes showed their European bonafides, putting plenty of pressure on the hosts and only drawing because of a penalty in added time. Esteban Lepaul was the hero for Les Rouge et Noir, netting a hat trick in an impressive display.
