RC Strasbourg closed the season in thrilling fashion with a 5-4 win over Monaco, coming back from three goals down at La Meinau -- catch up on all the action from Alsace with our match report.
Despite having little to play for, Gary O'Neil's side was a first choice one, save Ben Chilwell, the veteran Englishman not having been fit enough to make the squad. Thus a Monaco side with several absentees would have their work cut out for them, as Paul Pogba and Aleksandr Golovin joined what was already a crowded treatment table for the visitors. In their absence, coach Sébastien Pocognoli lined his side up in a 3-4-3, with Wout Faes coming into defence and captain Denis Zakaria moving back into midfield.
Monaco would start the brighter, but Denis Zakaria's effort ballooned over the bar (2'), and the next strong chance would come for the hosts, with Faes called into action to make a vital tackle ahead of Julio Enciso. Just two minutes later, the Principality side would take the lead, with Lamine Camara nipping in to take control of a backpass and put his side ahead. Monaco had the bit between their teeth, and had as shout for a penalty four minutes later, but VAR affirmed the referee's on-pitch decision not to award one.
Just past the half hour, though, Racing would pull level, with a fine finish on the counter by Martial Godo. Julio Enciso raced forward and cut the ball back to the Ivorian who scored his ninth of the season in the league (34'). Monaco, wanting to finish their season in the best possible way, responded with a pair of goals in three minutes, with first Camara (42') and then Ansu Fati (45 + 2') scoring in fine fashion to make it 3-1 at the interval, but not before Christian Mawissa crashed an effort off the post on the stroke of halftime.

Despite having fallen behind, Strasbourg started the second half the brighter, and Samir El Mourabet came close to pulling a goal back, only for his shot from thirty meters to flash wide (48'). In-form Folarin Balogun then had the ball in the net (54') only for the offside flag to initially deny the American, but VAR intervened to award him his fourteenth goal of the season in the league, a figure good for fourth-best in the division. Diego Moreira would offer an instant response, firing a shot just under the bar to make it 4-2 two minutes later.
Continuing to show their fight, Racing then scored again, with Sebastian Nanasi netting as the Belgian then turned provider (61'). Ten minutes later, Nanasi was at the double, this time scoring from another Enciso assist. It was then Godo's turn to double up, as the young Ivorian improbably put his side in front with six minutes to play, making it 5-4, a margin which would would hold until full time as the Alsatians completed a memorable comeback.
