Monaco’s push for a top-four finish suffered another major setback as they surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Toulouse, continuing a damaging run of form at a decisive stage of the season.

Monaco dropped two vital points in the race for the top four after being held to a 2-2 draw by Toulouse, despite leading by two goals at half-time.

Monaco made a fast and controlled start at the Stadium. They opened the scoring in the 6th minute when Jordan Teze headed in from close range following a corner. The visitors maintained their dominance and doubled their lead in the 18th minute through Lamine Camara, who struck a precise effort from distance into the top corner. At that stage, Monaco were firmly in control, enjoying the majority of possession and limiting Toulouse to very few chances.

The first half ended with Monaco leading 2-0, and there was little indication of what was to come after the break. Toulouse had struggled to progress the ball and create clear opportunities, with their best chance falling to Jacen Russell-Rowe, who failed to convert from close range.

The momentum shifted in the second half as Toulouse began to see more of the ball and push Monaco deeper. The visitors became increasingly passive, allowing Toulouse to build attacks and gain confidence. The hosts reduced the deficit in the 61st minute when Jacen Russell-Rowe finished from inside the box after a well-worked move down the left.

Following the goal, Monaco struggled to regain control of the match. Their attacking output dropped, and they spent long periods defending in their own half. Toulouse continued to apply pressure, creating several dangerous situations, including a headed chance that required a strong save from Lukáš Hrádecký.

Toulouse eventually found their equaliser in the 90th minute. A cross into the box was flicked on at the near post, allowing Emersonn to score from close range. The goal capped a sustained period of pressure from the home side and completed the comeback.

The result leaves Monaco in 7th place and extends their winless run to three matches, following earlier dropped points against Paris FC and Auxerre. They also miss the opportunity to move closer to Olympique de Marseille in the standings.

THE STAT: variety is the spice of life

Jacen Russell-Rowe became Toulouse's 13th different goalscorer in Ligue 1 in 2026, joint-highest tally with Lens over the period.
