Aubameyang the hero as OM snatch Olimpico win!
Veteran striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang showed a clinical touch in scoring a double to lead Marseille to a 3-2 comeback win over Olympique Lyonnais in Ligue 1 McDonald's -- catch up on all the action from the Vélodrôme with our match recap.
Tolisso gets his Gones off the mark
With Lyon limited by injury, manager Paulo Fonseca made enforced changes in attack, with a first start for Roman Yaremchuk centrally, and fellow January signing Noah Nartey playing in an advanced role on the left. As for Marseille, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was given the start with Amine Gouiri havig picked up a knock. The hosts also left Igor Paixão on the bench, opting to play a physical midfield with Quinten Timber playing as a nominal ten.
The match's early stages more than lived up to the occasion, as the chances came fast and furious in the early going. Lyon captain Corentin Tolisso needed just two minutes to break the deadlock, slotting home from inside the area to give the visitors the lead. Four minutes later, Les Gones were nearly two goals to the good as an overhead kick from Endrick was smartly saved by Geronímo Rullí. Then, three minutes later, Rullí's opposite number, Dominik Greif did well to keep out Mason Greenwood at close range before doing the same on 13', the match breathless at every turn.
Endrick then had a fine chance on 17 minutes, but just scooped his effort over the bar, but Marseille responded sharply, keeping up the pressure as Geoffrey Kondogbia fired a header over the bar from a corner (24'). While the match scarcely dropped in intensity, the second part of the first half was rather more bereft of chances, save a near post-save by Rulli from Yaremchuk on the break in added time and Tolisso's goal would hold until the break.

Marseille twice battle back before auba seals the win
Despite having been under pressure, Lyon would then have the first chance of the second half, but Tanner Tessmann just miscued a chipped ball from Endrick (49'). Tolisso then thought he had a double but the offside flag was up, and Lyon would come to rue their missed chance as Paixão, who had come off the bench at the half, would draw his side level with a stunning strike into the far corner. Lyon would make their own change in bringing on teenager Rémi Himbert for Yaremchuk and he also spurned a chance on 62 minutes.
But turnabout was fair play, as Lyon would themselves make Marseille pay for not making good on their dominance, with Himbert being set up by Endrick on 76 minutes. The response wasn't long in coming for the hosts, though -- a lovely dipping ball from Paixão was turned in by Aubameyang (81'), making the match once again level with ten minutes to play. With the match still level and ticking into added time, the veteran striker scored again, giving his side a 3-2 lead that they wouldn't relinquish.
With the win, Marseille pulled to within two points of their opponents before their Coupe de France match in the week. Next up in Ligue 1 McDonald's will be a match away to Toulouse, while Lyon will host Paris FC in the final game of Matchday 25.
