Toulouse FC were forced to settle for a draw against Paris FC on Matchday 23 of Ligue 1, as J. Vignolo’s late equaliser cancelled out Marshall Munetsi’s first-half opener at the Stadium. Toulouse dominated much of the contest but were made to wait until the 87th minute to find their reward.
The home side started brightly, controlling possession and territory in the opening exchanges. Cristian Cásseres Jr tested Kevin Trapp early on, while Gboho and Emersonn found space in wide areas. Toulouse believed they had taken a deserved lead midway through the first half when Methalie converted at the back post, only for VAR to rule the effort out for offside in the build-up.
That reprieve proved decisive. Against the run of play, Paris FC struck in the 39th minute through Munetsi. A sharp move down the flank released Gory, whose pass into the box found the Zimbabwean midfielder surging forward to finish across Guillaume Restes and give the visitors a surprise advantage at the break.
After the interval, Toulouse continued to press. Gboho went close from distance, Hidalgo forced Trapp into a smart save, and substitute Vignolo quickly made his presence felt in the final third. Paris FC, meanwhile, retreated deeper, relying on counter-attacks through Ikoné and Immobile, who found limited service throughout. Trapp stood firm as the pressure intensified. The German goalkeeper denied Diop and later produced an excellent stop to keep out a powerful Vignolo strike, as Toulouse laid siege to the Paris penalty area.
The equaliser finally arrived three minutes from time. A Toulouse corner caused chaos in the six-yard box and, after a flick-on at the near post, the ball dropped to Vignolo at the far post. The substitute reacted sharply to steer home from close range. A brief VAR check confirmed the goal stood.
There was late concern for Toulouse as Nicolaisen limped off with cramp, forcing the hosts to finish with ten men, but Paris FC were unable to create a decisive opportunity in stoppage time.
The result keeps Toulouse within touching distance of the European places, though they may reflect on a missed opportunity after dominating large stretches of the encounter. Paris FC, meanwhile, collect a valuable point as they continue their battle to steer clear of the relegation zone.
