Troyes left the door open for Saint-Étienne this weekend, but Les Verts couldn't make the most of the opportunity to close in on the league leaders with a defeat to Dunkerque (1-0). This was after Troyes failed to beat Rodez on Saturday evening, with Red Star's fixture against Bastia being halted definitively following the entry of a flare onto the pitch.
Troyes managed to slightly increase their lead over Saint-Étienne in the Ligue 2 BKT standings, but can still be caught by Red Star owing to their fixture's abandonment on Friday evening. Renaud Ripart opened the scoring for l'ESTAC, before Rodez managed to hit back shortly after after a strike from Octave Joly.
Les Verts could have taken the lead over the Championship after Troyes' draw to Rodez, but a tough trip to the north of France awaited the Stephanois. Horneland's men have won four out of their last five matches, but they couldn't build on their dominance and were then surprised by a strike from Enzo Bardeli. Meanwhile, Pau managed a slender win over Montpellier (0-1) to grab their first win in two months before Reims faced Laval on Monday evening.
Stade de Reims moved back into the podium spaces after a dominant win over Stade Lavallois in Monday evening's clash thanks to a game-changing performance from Keito Nakamura, who scored a splendid brace. They have less matches than Red Star, who the Rémois have equaled points with.
With Troyes and Saint-Étienne's results still to come through, Red Star and Bastia's result will be decided by the Ligue de Football Professionnel's disciplinary panel after a match interruption saw the fixture definitively suspended on the 56th minute after the entry of a flare onto the pitch which hit Red Star defender Bradley Danger. The LFP's commission will decide on Wednesday the following procedures.
