Rennes registered back-to-back wins in Ligue 1 McDonald's for the first time this season, beating Paris FC at the Stade Jean-Bouin (0-1).
After narrowly beating AS Monaco the previous week, Paris FC looked to pull off another scalp by beating Habib Beye's Rennes. Les Parisiens had the lion's share of the chances in the first half. Moustapha Mbow headed straight at Brice Samba (32'), who then made a much more emphatic save just moments later, sticking out a leg to deny an excellent half-volley from Pierre Lees-Melou (35').
But Les Rennais had their chances, too, and Mohamed Kader Meité went close, but couldn't direct his free header on target (35'). But the momentum, by and large, was with the home side, who went close when Jean-Philippe Krasso was put through. At a tight angle, he could only shoot straight at Samba (39').
Obed Nkambadio, by contrast, was quiet in the Paris FC goal, but he would be tested before the break by Meité, who this time did find the target but not the back of the net.

Paris FC continued to knock on the door in the second half. Samir Chergui went close, having been played in down the right (56'), and the marauding full-back went within inches of giving his side the lead, popping up at the back-post but striking the woodwork with the goal gaping (65').
The woodwork was struck again later in the half by former Reims full-back, Thibault De Smet, with his long-range curled effort striking the face of the left-hand post (77'). Stéphane Gilli's men did everything but get the goal, and they were punished late on.
Rennes' best chances had fallen to Meité, prior to his withdrawal, but his replacement, Breel Embolo, had the finishing touch. Put through from a speculative Valetin Rongier long-ball, the former Monaco forward latched onto the pass and kept his composure to finish past Nkambadio (81') for his third goal in his last five Ligue 1 McDonald's games.
Quentin Merlin had the chance to add to Rennes' advantage in the dying stages, as Paris FC pushed for an equaliser to extend their unbeaten run to three. The former Marseille defender blasted over (90+3'), but he and his teammates celebrated their second consecutive Ligue 1 McDonald's win moments later. It is a result that provisionally lifts the Breton club to eighth in the table and means that Beye's side have now lost only one of their last 10 league games.
Rennes secured the win against Paris FC, but they were reliant on some help from the woodwork. No side has been saved by the woodwork more than Les Rennais (6). Lens have also been saved by the woodwork on six occasions in Ligue 1 McDonald's this season.
