Takumi Minamino was on target in a friendly win for Japan over Brazil.

There were plenty of Ligue 1 McDonald's players in action on Tuesday as the international break draws to a close. We round up the best of the action.

A historic win for Japan

Whilst there was plenty of competitive action, there were also a handful of friendlies taking place. The stand-out result was Japan's 3-2 win over Brazil. It was a historic night for the former, who beat the Selecao for the first time in their history.

And it was a spectacular win, too. Brazil were 2-0 up heading into half-time before Monaco forward Takumi Minamino started the comeback. Two more goals within 20 minutes saw Japan take the win, with PSG centre-back Lucas Beraldo and Minamino's Monaco team-mate, Caio Henrique, on the losing side; a difficult night for former PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti.

In another friendly in Eastern Asia, South Korea came out on top against Paraguay. Despite starting on the bench, PSG's Lee Kang-in made his impact felt, netting an assist in a 2-0 win over the South American side.

In competitive action, World Cup qualifying continued in Europe. England are the first team to qualify on the continent after they swept aside Latvia on Tuesday night (5-0). Another former PSG manager, Thomas Tuchel, will look to lead the Three Lions to glory in the USA, Canada, and Mexico next summer.

Mendes with an assist in Portugal draw

Portugal are yet to secure their place in the tournament, however, they are on the right path. But they failed to beat Hungary, despite a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo. His brace means that he is now the player with the most goals in World Cup qualifiers.

He has Les Parisiens' Nuno Mendes to thank in part. The PSG defender has been in scintillating form for his club this season, notably netting a stunning goal against Lille just before the international break, and he has taken that form into international football, laying on an assist for Ronaldo. Their place in next summer's World Cup is all but assured, and they will be looking to make it official during the next international break, in November.

Turkey, meanwhile, dismantled Georgia. Saint-Étienne's Zuriko Davitashvili and PSG's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia both started in attack for Georgia, alongside former Lyon forward Georges Mikautadze, but they lost 4-1, and their chances of appearing in the World Cup diminished further as a result.

Saudi Arabia, who count Lens' Saud Abdulhamid in their ranks, continued their efforts to qualify for the World Cup with a 0-0 draw against Iraq. And finally, Honduras beat Haiti 3-0 on Tuesday night to bolster their chances of World Cup qualification. Haiti, whose side includes Auxerre forward Josué Casimir and former Strasbourg midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, could still yet qualify for the tournament.
