Euro 2027 qualifiers: Tel, Odobert and Kroupi lead the way in a 6-1 win

France’s Under-21s continued their perfect start to the Euro 2027 qualifying campaign with another emphatic victory, sweeping aside Estonia 6-1 in Grenoble on Monday evening. After hitting the Faroe Islands for six last month, Gérald Baticle’s side once again thrilled with attacking flair and relentless pressing.

Tel opens the scoring, Cissé dazzles from range

It took less than ten minutes for Les Bleuets to find their rhythm. Mathys Tel pounced on a goalkeeping error to open the scoring (9’), before Djaoui Cissé doubled the lead with a stunning strike from outside the area (12’). The Rennes midfielder was at the heart of France’s high-intensity play throughout the first half.

A defensive mix-up between Warren Zaïre-Emery and Robin Risser allowed Estonia to pull one back just before the break (45’), but the French response after the interval was immediate and emphatic.

Odobert and Kroupi take charge

Baticle introduced Eli Junior Kroupi at half-time, and the Bournemouth forward made an instant impact, finishing coolly after being played through by Zaïre-Emery (50’). From there, Wilson Odobert took centre stage. The Reims winger was rewarded for his constant attacking intent with two well-taken goals (64’, 79’) before Kroupi sealed the rout with his second of the night (86’).

Tel, wearing the captain’s armband for much of the game, was given a standing ovation when replaced in the final minutes after another commanding performance up front.

France flying high

Two games, two wins, twelve goals scored – and only two conceded. France sit second in Group C behind the Faroe Islands, who have played two games more. But the early signs under Gérald Baticle are hugely promising, with an expressive, high-pressing side full of confidence and attacking cohesion.
