Matchday 4 of Ligue 1 McDonald's delivered plenty of drama: PSG relied on a sparkling Bradley Barcola to see off Lens, Paris FC pulled off a win at Brest thanks to heroics from Nkambadio, Strasbourg won in stoppage time, while Metz were denied their first victory of the season.
Paris Saint-Germain continued their perfect start to the season with a 2-0 win over RC Lens at the Parc des Princes. Missing Dembélé and Doué, Luis Enrique’s side leaned on a brilliant Bradley Barcola, who scored twice (15’, 51’). Chevalier was also impressive between the posts, but PSG’s day was marred by injuries to Kvaratskhelia, Lee Kang-in, and Beraldo, just days ahead of their Champions League opener against Atalanta. Despite these setbacks, the Parisians secured their fourth consecutive league win.
Promoted Paris FC claimed their second consecutive victory, holding on for a 2-1 win at Stade Francis-Le Blé despite finishing with ten men. William Geubbels opened the scoring with his first goal for Paris FC after Maxime Lopez was found with an incisive run in-behind and put the ball on a plate for the Frenchman to provide a low finish (14').
Marchetti then doubled the score after Gregoire Coudet's reflex save from his first strike fell right back into the path of the PFC midfielder. Romain Del Castillo stepped up to convert a penalty just following the resumption of the second period (52'). The real star was Obed Nkambadio, who made a string of match-winning saves, including reflex stops from Chardonnet and Del Castillo. Reduced to ten after Otavio’s red card, PFC held on for a second win in a row.
It looked as though Strasbourg would be frustrated at home by Le Havre, but late drama in Alsace changed everything. With the game goalless heading into stoppage time, Godo was fouled in the box, earning a penalty. Substitute Joaquín Panichelli converted with power in the 92nd minute, sending the Meinau into raptures. Strasbourg then had to finish nervously with ten men after Hogsberg saw red, but they held on for a 1-0 victory, their third win of the campaign.
At the Stade Saint-Symphorien, Metz thought they were heading for their first win of the season after Jean-Philippe Gbamin scored early. Habib Diallo missed the chance to double the lead from the spot, and Metz were punished late on. Angers’ Abdelli equalised from 12 yards in the 90th minute, ensuring the points were shared. The 1-1 draw leaves Metz still searching for a first win this season, while Angers continue to show resilience in the fight for safety.
