It was a tight contest between Rennes and Strasbourg as the two sides played to a scoreless first half at Roazhon Park. The home side recorded six total shots while the visitors recorded three and the lack of goals carried over for most of the second half.
When the contest looked like it would end in a scoreless draw, Ludovic Blas broke the deadlock with a goal in the 89th minute. On a corner kick set piece, the ball found its way to an unmarked Blas whose quick shot beat Djordje Petrovic to give Rennes all three points and the first win of the Beye era.
Reims came close to playing with 10 men when midfielder John Patrick fouled Moses Simon inside the box and was shown a red card. However, after a VAR review, the red card was overturned and the penalty was canceled as the contact with Simon was considered minimal.
Toward the end of the first half at Stade Auguste Delaune, Nantes broke the scoreless deadlock as Matthis Abline scored in the 42nd minute. Abline made an excellent run cutting inside, with no defenders in his way and finished with a perfectly placed shot to make it 1-0.
Despite taking the lead, Les Canaris couldn't hold onto their 1-0 advantage heading into halftime due to an own goal in the first half stoppage time. The own goal came from Jean-Charles Castelletto, who mishit his clearance on a corner and accidentally put the ball into his net.
Midway through the second half, Nantes scored the eventual game-winning goal as Abline had his second goal contribution of the match. The 21-year-old sent in a perfect pull-back cross, and Mostafa Mohamed placed the ball brilliantly to allow the visitors to take a 2-1 lead and the win.
The contest at Stade Raymond Kopa started chippy with the referee showing two red cards in under 20 minutes.
Lilian Raolisoa received the first red card in the 10th minute after making contact with Antoine Joujou's ankle during a midfield challenge. After reviewing the video, the referee gave a red card as Angers went to 10 men early in the match.
Le Havre failed to capitalize on having an extra man after Le Club Doyen had a player sent off in the 16th minute. Arouna Sanganté was shown a red card after his high foot caught Esteban Lepaul in the face from behind.
Following the two red cards, Le Havre and Angers played a scoreless first half and the goal-scoring came late from the two sides. André Ayew opened the scoring in the 73rd minute for the visitors as the veteran scored off an acrobatic dive to deflect the ball from a cross that beat Yahia Fofana.
Just when Le Havre thought they had secured all three points, Angers responded to make it one-all. In the 90th minute, Florent Hanin caused Le Havre real trouble, pouncing on a loose ball and sending it into the back of the net as the contest ended in a draw.
