American Mark McKenzie scored his first goal of the season as Les Violets earned a point at home.

A strong start for Les Aiglons

Despite missing defenders Charlie Cresswell and Djiibril Sidibé, Toulouse started the brighter, and the visitors needed a fine save from Marcin Bulka at his near post to keep out Zakaria Abloukhlal. From there, the match continued at a breakneck pace, with the next strong chance also coming for the hosts, but Bulka was able to handle a free kick with 15 minutes on the clock, allowing his side to take the lead three minutes later.

After Evann Guessand was brought down by Guillaume Restes coming off his line, Laborde stepped up and calmly slotted home the resulting penalty, putting his team ahead. Laborde was then close to a double, but Restes kept out his shot on the half hour, allowing Franck Haise's side to enter the break a goal to the good, even as Bulka was sharp again to deny Frank Magri at a corner.

After the break, Les Violets continued to push for an equaliser, with Aron Donnum firing wide ten minutes into the second half. Their persistence would finally tell six minutes from time, though, as McKenzie pounced on a loose ball after Bulka had spilled a free kick, getting his first of the season to the joy of the team's supporters.

Speaking post-match, McKenzie saw the result as justly rewarded, saying, "Even if we conceded chances on the counter, we have to see this as a step forward. We will need to have more of a killer instinct in the area, though."  The draw in hand, Toulouse are next in action in the Coupe de France against Guingamp in the week, while Nice will face Stade Briochin in the same competition.

The stat: 7

Mark McKenzie became the just the seventh different player to score in Ligue 1 McDonald's for Toulouse FC this season -- no team has fewer.
