UCL Recap: Ousmane Dembélé Brace Helps PSG Edge Brest in First Leg Win

In the first leg of the UEFA Champions League knockout phase play-off, Paris Saint-Germain secured a 3-0 victory over Stade Brestois on Tuesday night at Stade de Roudourou.

PSG took the lead in the first half when VAR confirmed a penalty for Pierre Lees-Melou’s handball. Vitinha stepped up and calmly slotted the ball past Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot, giving PSG a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute.

Ousmane Dembélé scored PSG’s second goal, his 14th of 2025, just before halftime to put the capital club two goals ahead.

The capital club played a quick one-touch pass, and João Neves spotted the opening with Achraf Hakimi on the right. He sent it forward to Dembélé, who used Hakimi’s run to cut inside on his left foot and fired a powerful shot at the near post to beat Bizot.

Dembélé, who’s been on a scoring spree since the start of 2025, recorded a brace, with his second goal coming in the final 45 minutes.

A one-two with Bradley Barcola didn’t quite work out, but Brest's passive defense allowed the 27-year-old to push forward and net his second of the game in the 66th minute. That took his tally to 15 goals in 2025, keeping up his impressive run this year.

Following the 3-0 victory over Brest, Vitinha spoke to Canal+ and while he's happy with how the team performed, the PSG midfielder understands that there's still another 90 minutes to go in this tie.

"We can say that we've been a team for a long time. We're happy, but it's not over. We're waiting for Brest at the Parc. It will be difficult because they are a team that never gives up."

Brest face an uphill battle in the return leg, needing to overturn a three-goal deficit when they visit the Parc des Princes next Wednesday.

The Stat: 8

Dembélé has scored in his last eight matches across all competitions, matching the longest scoring streak in PSG history, shared by Neymar (twice), Carlos Bianchi, and Kylian Mbappé.
