Preview: Toulouse Look to Extend Unbeaten Run vs. PSG

Ligue 1 action returns after the November FIFA international break with Toulouse FC heading to the French capital to face Paris Saint-Germain on Friday night at the Parc des Princes.

PSG, leading the Ligue 1 table with 29 points, will aim to extend their advantage over second-place AS Monaco, who sit on 23 points. The Parisians secured a 4-2 win over Angers SCO before heading into the break, so Luis Enrique and his team will look to continue their winning form.

The Spanish manager emphasized on Thursday the importance of his group hitting the ground running after the break, given the packed schedule they face to wrap up 2024.

“We need to get back into the swing of things as quickly as possible, so that we can get to grips with the matches that lie ahead and get back into the swing of things with the match against Toulouse, after an international break. The players who stay in Paris have individual sessions, so nothing is left to chance.”

The contest against Toulouse will also be a final tune-up before their UEFA Champions League league phase match against Bayern Munich on November 26.

Toulouse will look to secure points from PSG as Carles MartĂnez Novell and his team are right in the race for a European competition spot for next season as Les Violets trail fifth-place Olympique Lyonnais by only three points for the UEFA Europa League spot.

Heading into their match against PSG, Toulouse, riding a four-game unbeaten streak, present a challenge that Enrique fully acknowledges and isn’t taking lightly.

“We know the coach well, he works well. They came and win at the Parc des Princes last season, so we're going to have to be ready and see how fit each of our players is. The match after a break is always special.”

“You have to take into account the match we're going to play and the matches the players have played for their national teams. We have to take all that into account before preparing for the match ahead. It's going to be a tough game, they're on a good run of form, and I know we'll have to be up to scratch or they'll cause us problems.”
