Ligue 2 BKT action continued this weekend. FC Nantes registered their first point of the campaign, whilst there was a statement win for Stade de Reims in Île-de-France.

Guingamp 3-3 Nantes

Grégory Poirier has stopped the rot at Nantes. The former Red Star manager came in for Michal Der Zakarian in midweek and, in one game, did what his predecessor failed to do in the previous two, registering a point for the Loire-based club.

Rock-bottom coming into the gameweek, Les Canaris already find themselves very much on the back foot in their quest to make an immediate return to Ligue 1 McDonald's. The torrid run looked like continuing when Samie Ben Brahim put the hosts 1-0 up within the first 10 minutes, and when Donatien Gomis put Guingamp two goals to the good within 15 minutes, Nantes were staring down the barrel of two consecutive defeats.

But Nantes would come charging back. Wilitty Younoussa halved the deficit shortly after and then netted the equaliser shortly after half time. Antoine Joujou looked to have netted a dramatic late winner for Poirier's side, only for Gomis to net a 98th-minute equaliser. A point that was welcome, but, within the context, they would have been disappointed not to have taken all three on Poirier's debut in the dugout.

Red Star 1-4 Reims

There is no doubting that Reims underwhelmed last season in their quest to return to the top-flight. Les Rémois didn't even make the promotion/ relegation play-offs, prompting the club to make a change in the dugout during the off-season.

Under Nicolas Usai, there has been a notable improvement and an emphatic win at the Stade Bauer on Saturday means that, regardless of the result of Monday night's game (Dijon v Saint-Étienne), they will finish the gameweek second in Ligue 2 BKT.

Saif-Eddine Khaoui gave Damien Perrinelle's side the perfect start, however, Reims came back into this game immediately through Samuel Kotto and by half-time, they found themselves behind dueto a Youssef El Kachati finish.

Reims kept on the accelerator and it was El Kachati who doubled Les Stadistes' advantage. Sambou Soumano rounded out the scoring from the spot.

Annecy 1-1 Metz

Two promotion contenders met in Haute-Savoie on Friday. Annecy have strengthened once again over the summer, whilst, whenever, they make the drop to Ligue 2 BKT, Metz are always one of the favourites to go straight back up... especially when you have a player like Téji Savanier in your squad.

The former Montpellier playmaker put his side ahead with a stunning free-kick midway through the first half. Aston Villa loanee Kadan Young levelled soon after and the two sides saw out the draw.

Other Results:

  • Nancy Lorraine 2-0 Dunkerque
  • Rodez 2-2 Pau
  • Clermont Foot 0-0 Sochaux
  • Montpellier 0-0 Boulogne
  • Laval 0-3 Grenoble
