Who is Yacine Titraoui, Lens’ newest signing?
RC Lens have continued their summer recruitment with the signing of Yacine Titraoui, who arrives at Stade Bollaert-Delelis following two impressive seasons in Belgium.
The midfielder has signed a five-year contract running until 2031 and will wear the number eight shirt. Lens reportedly paid Charleroi around €8 million to secure the Algeria international’s services.
Paradou’s latest graduate
Born in M’Sila, Titraoui developed at Paradou AC, an academy responsible for producing several prominent Algeria internationals, including Ramy Bensebaini, Hicham Boudaoui and Youcef Atal.
Titraoui was consistently promoted above his age group and made his Algerian top-flight debut at just 17. By the 2021/22 season, he was already an important member of the Paradou midfield, making 28 appearances and earning a place in Algeria’s Arab Cup-winning squad as the tournament’s youngest player.
His final campaign in Algeria underlined that he was ready to move abroad. Titraoui recorded seven goals and seven assists during the 2023/24 season, directly contributing to more than half of the points collected by Paradou.
Charleroi subsequently brought him to Belgium, where the midfielder quickly became a regular alongside compatriot Adem Zorgane. He made 33 appearances during his first season and helped the club qualify for the UEFA Conference League preliminary rounds.
A midfielder built for the Lens engine room
Despite standing at around 1.70m, Titraoui has the energy and defensive appetite needed to compete in a demanding midfield. He can recover possession, receive the ball under pressure and immediately look to move his team forward.
His close control and ability to escape congested areas have led to comparisons with Marco Verratti, but Titraoui is also a more direct runner than that nickname might suggest. He covers considerable ground, carries the ball through midfield and is capable of joining attacks from a deeper starting position.
According to Lens, no player in the Belgian top flight recorded more progressive runs or covered a greater distance while sprinting during the 2025/26 campaign. He was also a near ever-present for Charleroi, playing 35 league matches and almost 2,900 minutes.
There is a growing goal threat to his game as well. Titraoui scored several spectacular efforts from distance last season, including powerful strikes against Westerlo and Genk. Those performances helped reopen the door to the Algeria squad towards the end of 2025.
He now has five senior caps and travelled to North America as part of Algeria’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, although he remained an unused substitute during their four matches.
Lens sporting director Jean-Louis Leca highlighted Titraoui’s ability to play through pressure and continually look forward when announcing his arrival. That combination of technical security, defensive activity and relentless movement should make him well suited to the intensity of football at Bollaert.
After proving himself in Algeria and Belgium, Titraoui now has the stage to establish himself as one of Ligue 1’s most complete young midfielders.
