Davide Ancelotti "A courageous style of play"
New LOSC manager Davide Ancelotti was formally unveiled to the press recently -- catch up with the latest from his introductory press conference.
"Joining LOSC is a fantastic opportunity"
I had the impression that Lille was a city with warm, sunny weather, though everyone tells me that’s not the case. I’ve settled in Vieux-Lille; there are lots of young people and a great atmosphere. I was surprised, as I wasn’t familiar with the area before. It’s very lovely. My family and children will be joining me. The fans I’ve met have been very polite. Joining LOSC is a fantastic opportunity—it’s a club with a clear vision and a culture of hard work and high standards. I felt a connection right away, from the moment I spoke with the president. It’s a club that is growing, striving to improve, and has a wonderful community."
On his preferred style of play
"I want to see a team that has a courageous style of play; I like having technical players. The priority is not to lose the ball; the second is to win it back immediately; the third is ensuring we are well-organized to win it back. The general idea is to have a team that makes the fans proud."
"An unconventional path"
"It’s true that I’ve had an unconventional path, but I’ve been in football for a long time. I started in France 14 years ago. I learned a great deal working as an assistant at highly demanding clubs. I chose to coach in South America for my first head coaching role because it’s a unique environment, and it made me a better coach."
Time for me to write my own story
"My surname is a recurring topic in my life. Of course, I’m here to write my own story. My first name is Davide, but I’m very happy to have this surname. I’ve learned a lot from my father. It’s not a burden; it’s simply time for me to write my own story. I don’t want to draw comparisons with my father, and I don’t feel any pressure regarding that. He’s there to help me if I need it. Being able to call him for advice—and for free—is wonderful."
On AYYoub bouaddi:
"He’s a magnificent player; everyone knows him. Of course, as a coach, I’d love to have a player like that, but my priority is working with the squad at my disposal."
