Paris Saint-Germain return to training ahead of packed start to 2026/27
Paris Saint-Germain returned to the PSG Campus on Monday to begin preparations for the 2026/27 season, with two friendly matches, two early opportunities to lift silverware and the start of their Ligue 1 title defence all awaiting Luis Enrique’s side in August.
Following a summer dominated by the 2026 World Cup, the Parisian squad began reporting back to the club’s training centre in Poissy on Monday 27 July.
Several players have been granted additional time off following their involvement in the tournament, including Spain midfielder Fabián Ruiz, who helped his country lift the trophy.
For the rest of the squad, however, attention has already turned towards another demanding campaign. Paris will have only a short preparation period before returning to competitive action, with Luis Enrique’s players set to contest four matches across the opening 20 days of August.
Two friendlies before the trophies
PSG’s first pre-season fixture will take place on Wednesday 5 August, when the French champions travel to Spain to face RCD Mallorca at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix. Kick-off is scheduled for 21:00.
Three days later, the Rouge et Bleu will head to Gothenburg for another high-profile friendly, taking on Manchester United at the Nya Ullevi Stadium on Saturday 8 August at 17:00.
That match will provide Paris with their final preparation before the first major occasion of the new season.
On Wednesday 12 August, the UEFA Champions League holders will face UEFA Europa League winners Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup at Stadion Salzburg in Austria.
Luis Enrique’s side will be looking to retain the trophy and add another continental honour to their collection, with kick-off scheduled for 21:00.
Paris will then return to France for the Trophée des Champions only four days later. The Ligue 1 champions will meet Coupe de France winners RC Lens at Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Sunday 16 August, with the match beginning at 20:45.
The encounter will offer PSG an opportunity to claim a second trophy before the league campaign has even begun.
The five-time defending French champions will then launch their latest Ligue 1 title defence at the Parc des Princes on Sunday 23 August.
Stade Rennais FC will provide the opposition on Matchday 1, with kick-off once again scheduled for 20:45.
Paris will discover their UEFA Champions League league-phase opponents four days later, bringing a busy opening period to a close and setting the stage for another season across several fronts.
