On a rainy Ligue 1 McDonald's night at the Parc des Prices, Paris Saint-Germain were tested by Stade Brestois but ultimately prevailed, 1-0, leaving them all but champions with two rounds to play.

Brest provide a stern test

Following on from their midweek draw against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and with a virtual title decider looming on Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain played a rotated side under Luis Enrique. Captain Marquinhos was in defence, but Fabián Ruiz was the only other player to have started in Bavaria to feature from the off at the Parc. As for the visitors, they played a new-look 3-4-3 with Lucas Tousart dropping into defence and little-used youngster Raphaël Le Guen starting ahead of captain Brendan Chardonnet.

In a match played in heavy rain in the capital, it was the hosts who had the match's first chance, but Lucas Hernández's volley was punched away for a corner (7'). Dro Fernández, impressing in midfield, would then have a pair of chances (15', 21') but would come no closer to beating Grégoire Coudert. Despite a series of further chances from set pieces, the hosts would come no closer to finding the net, and the match reached the interval scoreless.

Doué makes the difference off the bench

Into the second half, the hosts continued to battle, with Senny Mayulu even hitting the post (68') but it would take the introduction of their regular attacking trio -- Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué, to make the breakthrough. The young Frenchman found the bottom corner of the net from outside the area, and his strike was enough to secure the result.

With the win, Paris Saint-Germain now sit six points ahead of RC Lens, and barring a massive swing in goal difference (the two teams have a fifteen-goal differential), the capital side will be crowned Ligue 1 McDonald's champions this midweek following their match against second-place Lens before Sunday's derby against Paris FC. As for Brest, they'll face Strasbourg in midweek before concluding their season with a Breton derby at home to Angers on Sunday.

The stat: 25

Paris Saint-Germain have won all 25 of the matches they've played in which Désiré Doué has scored a goal.
