Toulouse FC: Carles Martínez Novell to Leave at the End of the Season

Toulouse FC have announced that Carles Martínez Novell will no longer be the club’s head coach after the end of the season.

Carles Martínez Novell joined Toulouse’s coaching staff at the end of 2022.

It’s over between Toulouse FC and Carles Martínez Novell. Toulouse announced on Wednesday that their collaboration with the Spanish coach will come to an end after the season. His contract will not be renewed. Appointed head coach in June 2023, he will have spent three years in charge of the Toulouse side.

Carles Martínez Novell arrived at Toulouse in December 2022 as an assistant to Philippe Montanier. A few months later, he was part of the coaching staff when Les Violets lifted the Coupe de France. Soon afterwards, he was promoted to head coach.

In his first season, the club finished 11th in Ligue 1 and qualified for the Europa League Round of 16. In 2024/25, Toulouse finished 10th in the league. This season, the club currently sit 10th after 31 matches.

Soon to turn 42, Martínez Novell had previously coached various youth teams at RCD Espanyol and FC Barcelona, as well as in the Gulf region with Al-Rayyan SC in Qatar and Kuwait’s U20 national team.
