Nanasi chips Mvogo to level the scores between Strasbourg and Lorient

RC Strasbourg Alsace came from 2-0 down and 2-1 down at the start of second-half injury time to take all three points from their visit to FC Lorient (2-3).

Only 1 defeat at home for Lorient going into this one

Only Lille have come to the Moustoir this season and taken all three points home with them. The likes of Monaco, Lens, Lyon and Marseille have all come unstuck on their visit and Olivier Pantaloni's side looked to pull off another scalp. RCSA were already a wounded beast after their exit from the Coupe de France in midweek.

Lorient got great joy down Strasbourg's right during the opening minutes, and one move provided Bamba Dieng a very presentable chance to continue his fine vein of form. Striking first time, his effort ballooned over the bar, however (4'). A let-off for Gary O'Neil's side.

Les Merlus, who last weekend beat OM (2-0) at the Moustoir, continued to look dangerous, but the next big chance fell Strasbourg's way, with Samir El Mourabet drawing a save from Yvon Mvogo (19') with his long-range effort. Pablo Pagis then hit the post after working his way into the box from a short corner (19'). It was from a Pagis corner that Les Merlus deservedly took the lead. The initial corner was cleared but the ball came back out to Panos Katseris, and his ball back into the crowded box perfectly picked out Noah Cadiou to slot home first time (26').

Nathaniel Adjei then forced Mike Penders into a brilliant save from another corner (35') as Le Racing struggled to deal with LFC's set-piece prowess. It was the same story two minutes later when Abdoulaye Faye forced an even better save from the Chelsea loanee (38').

Le Racing found themselves two down shortly after the return from the dressing room. Junior Mwanga brought down Arsene Kouassi, and Pagis stepped up, blasting his penalty down the middle (54').

Sébastien Nanasi halved the deficit soon after and it was a gift from Lorient. Mvogo's ball out to Laurent Abergel was clumsy and Strasbourg won it high. One touch was needed to put the ball right in the path of the Swedish forward (62').

Strasbourg strike in injury time

Pagis almost restored the cushion with a quickly taken volley, which sailed just inches wide of the frame of Penders' goal (70'). The Lorient goalkeeper somewhat atoned for his error, pulling off a brilliant close-range save from Abdoul Ouattara's volley (84').

But Mvogo was left stranded when he was beaten by Nanasi's looped header in second-half injury time (90+1'). Le Racing then had a glorious chance to complete the comeback, but Emanuel Emegha's snatched first-time shot (90+8') flew wide of Mvogo's goal. Strasbourg didn't pass up their second chance, with Andrew Omobamidele controlling from a corner and slotting home on the half-volley (90+9').
