SCO Angers may struggle to keep hold of their best talents, but they seemingly have no problems developing them. Marius Louer is the latest to make the step from their academy to the first team.
Angers have brought through plenty of high-profile players in recent times. The likes of Rayan Ait-Nouiri, Jean-Mattรฉo Bahoya, Sidiki Chรฉrif, and Mohamed-Ali Cho have all graduated from their academy in recent times and earned big-money moves away from the Stade Raymond Kopa.
However, of those aforementioned players, only Cho, now at OGC Nice, has played more than 30 games for Le Sco. Prosper Peter, who has played 26 times for Alexandre Dujeux's side, is also garnering interest. There is a trend: Angers produce talent that is quickly swept up.
It is clear that the eyes of Europe's recruiters are always firmly fixed on Angers and they may not be looking at Louer. Prior to the loss to RC Lens just before the most recent international break, Louer had only made three very brief substitute appearances for Angers.

However, he has benefited from absences in the Angers squad to make his first starts and make a mark. He started against Les Sang et Or but, collectively, Angers struggled to contain Pierre Sage's forwards.
That was not the case against Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday. OL and Paulo Fonseca were desperate to end their winless run in Ligue 1 McDonald's, but they struggled to break through Angers' back three of Louer, Mauritania international Jordan Lefort, and Ousmane Camara.
The former made eight ball recoveries during the game and was subsequently included in L'รquipe's Team of the Gameweek. He also won four of his eight duels, completed two of his three tackles, and committed just one foul. There was a quality of opposition in front of him, too. Afonso Moreira has been one of the in-form forwards in Ligue 1 McDonald's this season, but the Portuguese forward was kept very quiet on the afternoon.
He has also already impressed his captain, Haris Belkebla: "I already spoke very highly of him during the pre-match press conference. I said how nice it was to see young players like him emerge. Today, he did a better match than against Lens. I congratulated him, and I think that all of the players and the staff congratulated him, too. We are happy for him," he said.
With players expected back, Louer will now have to fight to keep his place in Dujeux's side as he looks to become the latest player to make the breakthrough.
