Changes for both managers

The visitors under Kombouaré -- still deprived of the injured Ilan Kebbal, their leading scorer, played largely the same 4-3-3 as they had in their previous, match a draw against Lyon, with Ciro Immobile replacing Jean-Philippe Krasso in attack. As for the hosts, despite playing between two legs of their Conference League tie, and coming off a trip to Croatia, Gary O'Neil played a similar side as well, with only Lucas Høgsberg and Samuel Amo-Ameyaw dropping to the bench. After the two sides had played out a thrilling 3-2 win for Racing the reverse fixture, there was no small amount of anticipation for this return leg.

Despite Paris FC having the match's first attempt, a speculative effort from range by Jonathan Ikoné (2'), Racing largely had things their way in the first half, dominating possession and wining a succession of early corners. Abdoul Ouattara would then have what was one of the best chances of the match, testing Kevin Trapp with a volley from the edge of the area (12'). From there, despite Strasbourg's dominance, they would test Trapp only once more, with Guéla Doué heading against the bar on a corner (35') and the match remaining scoreless at the break.

A cautious second half

Into the second half, Strasbourg's fatigue perhaps began to show, and despite their continuing to dominate possession, they had rather fewer chances. A tame attempt from Joaquín Panichelli (57') was easily gathered by Trapp and was the only chance of note. Kombouaré, seeing the chance to take the initiative, made a raft of attacking changes, and Luca Koleosho immediately looked bright on coming on, wreaking havoc and testing Mike Penders in the Racing goal (77').

Neither side would come any closer, though, and the match would end scoreless, with Paris FC moving up to thirteenth. As for the hosts, they moved back into eighth, the point having edged them ahead of Lorient following Les Merlus' win yesterday.

The Stat: 4

Strasbourg have drawn four of their last five Ligue 1 McDonald's matches, and are now four points off LOSC in seventh place.
