Ruthless in front of goal and rock-solid at the back, Olympique Lyonnais edged past Lille OSC (1–0) at the Groupama Stadium on Sunday.
The result marks a 10th consecutive victory in all competitions for the in-form Gones, who move level on points with Olympique de Marseille in the race for the podium.

Clinical Lyon punish Lille dominance

Outplayed for long spells in the first half, Lyon made their efficiency count. With their first clear chance of the match, Paulo Fonseca’s side struck. In the 37th minute, after a driving run down the left from Kluivert, Noah Nartey arrived centrally to side-foot home with his right foot and beat Ozer.

It was a harsh blow for Lille, who had enjoyed the bulk of possession and created the better openings, only to be denied by an inspired Lucas Greif, notably against Perraud and Fernandez-Pardo. Lille had the ball; Lyon had the goal.

Defensive discipline sees it through

Lille pushed again after the break, but Lyon’s compact defensive block held firm. The Mata–Niakhaté pairing dealt calmly with everything thrown at them, while Greif remained assured between the posts.

Lyon offered less going forward as the half wore on, but nearly doubled their lead late on when Endrick raced through on the counter. It mattered little, as the hosts managed the game expertly to secure another precious win.

Momentum builds in the podium race

This 10th straight victory in all competitions underlines Lyon’s outstanding start to 2026. Still fourth, they are now level with Marseille and firmly entrenched in the battle for European qualification.

For Lille, it is a fourth successive Ligue 1 defeat, leaving their fifth place under threat, with Strasbourg able to close the gap. Despite encouraging spells of possession, the Dogues were once again left to rue a lack of cutting edge.

THE STAT: 10

➡️ 10 – Lyon’s winning streak now stands at ten matches in all competitions, their longest in over a decade.
