For the fifth consecutive year, the 16th matchday of the Ligue 1 McDonald's season and the 17th matchday of the Ligue 2 BKT season were marked by the LFP's collaboration with the CNAPE, in support of the "Défenseurs de l'Enfance" (Childhood protection, in English) campaign.

Players handed trophies by children

The campaign once again "lit up the holidays", with a range of measures implemented by the LFP and by clubs in France's two top divisions. From a Santa Claus scaling down the Vélodrome to hand out presents, to children presenting players with their man-of-the-match awards, 70 children, followed by the Confédération Nationale des Associations de la Protection de l'Enfance (CNAPE), enjoyed unforgettable moments during the final Ligue 1 McDonald's matchday of 2025.

Ibrahim Mbaye, named man-of-the-match during PSG's narrow win over Metz on Saturday (3-2), was notably handed his trophy by a child participating in the campaign, and he then proceeded to gift his match-worn jersey.

Children were also invited into Angers' dressing room to celebrate their 4-1 win over Nantes, as shown on Ligue 1 Plus.

The campaign was also focal to the weekend's Ligue 1 Plus coverage, with children opening presents pre-match around a pitchside Christmas tree alongside a local personality on presenters from the Ligue 1 Plus and beIN Sports platform.

The occasion comes after several weeks of measures, including allowing the children involved to visit the training grounds of the professional clubs as part of the "Train Like a Pro" programme, which culminated in a Défenseurs de l'Énfance tournament at the Decathlon Arena.
