Olympique de Marseille missed a golden opportunity to go top of Ligue 1 McDonald's on Saturday evening, pegged back by Toulouse FC in added time. Argentine youngster Santi Hidalgo played the hero in a thrilling two-all draw -- get the latest with our match report.

Toulouse spring a surprise

With AS Monaco having beaten Paris Saint-Germain in the early match, Olympique de Marseille were presented with a golden opportunity to go top of Ligue 1 McDonald's as they hosted Toulouse FC at the Vélodrôme. The match's importance was made doubly clear as manager Roberto de Zerbi made few changes from the side which beat Newcastle in the week, keeping the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mason Greenwood in the eleven.

Despite this boldness on the part of the hosts, it would be Toulouse who struck first, with Emersonn turning Nayef Aguerd before slotting home just before the quarter hour. Unawed by the atmosphere, Toulouse continued to pick their moments, and it would take a fine clearance off the line by Aguerd to keep Les Violets from doubling their lead (34'). Just before the break, there was another clearance off the line, as Aubameyang was denied by Charlie Cresswell, as Toulouse reached the break clinging to their lead.

OM go back in front, but are stunned

Building on the momentum they showed in the closing stages of the first half, as they had against Newcastle in the week, l'OM pushed hard to get back into the match, and came close to leveling on 52 minutes as Pierre-Emile Højberg hit the post. It was only a momentary reprieve, though, as Toulouse would respond in kind, with Aron Dønnum hitting the bar just past the hour.

Marseille would draw level through Igor Paixão midway through the half and then take the lead as Højberg scored with a powerful header. There would be one final twist, though, as twenty year old Santiago Hidalgo scored for the first time since arriving this summer, making two-all the final score. With the draw, Marseille remain second ahead of Lens' match against Angers tomorrow, while Toulouse, who have lost just once in their last five matches, are ninth.
