The 2025 CAF Awards took place in Rabat, Morocco on Wednesday evening -- learn more about all of the winners including PSG's Achraf Hakimi, who was named Men's Player of the Year.
After consecutive second place finishes in 2023 and 2024, Achraf Hakimi was crowned CAF Men's Player of the Year for the first time in his career, edging Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen. The Paris Saint-Germain right back deservedly was honored after a 2025 that also included a Champions League win, a Ligue 1 McDonald's title and a Coupe de France crown as well.
Speaking from the stage in Rabat, Hakimi evinced both his humble nature and the potential of football to be a springboard of opportunity for young Africans, saying, "All glory to God. This trophy is not just for me - it is for all Africans, young Africans who aspire to be footballers. I would like to thank King Mohamed for providing us with all the facilities to help us succeed."

While Hakimi (deservedly) took home the evening's biggest award, there were plenty of other headlines related to Ligue 1 McDonald's. After struggles this season with injury, AS Monaco's Lamine Camara was unable to repeat as Men's Young Player of the Season, but a former Montpellier HSC academy product, Othmane Maamma, was honored, having moved to English side Watford in the summer after making nearly 20 appearances for La Paillade.
There was Ligue 1 involvement in the team categories as well -- Hakimi took home the individual award, but his Atlas Lions were also crowned as the Men's Team of the Year. Morocco's squad of course varies from call-up to call-up, but players like Hamza Igamane (LOSC) and Nayef Aguerd (Marseille) have been helped the team with consistent performances since arriving this summer.
