Julio Enciso scored his first goal for RC Strasbourg

On what was otherwise a tough evening for Ligue 1 McDonald's in Europe, RC Strasbourg kept their unbeaten start to the Conference League alive with a 2-1 win away to BK Hacken. Catch up on the Alsatians' victory with our match report.

Rosenior rotates his eleven

With a big match against LOSC Lille set for Sunday, Liam Rosenior rested several key players, including the league's top scorer in Joaquín Panichelli and all-action midfielder Valentín Barco, while Diego Moreira and Guela Doué both featured only from the bench. The match started a fast pace, and it wouldn't take long for Racing to test the hosts, with midfielder Rafael Luis coming close to finding the top corner after a brilliant turn from Samuel Amo-Ameyaw (18').

In a brilliant team move, Racing built from the back, with the ball being played wide to Martial Godo, who turned in a teasing cross to the back post which Julio Enciso headed home (21'). It marked the Paraguay international's first goal for his new club and put the Alsatians deservedly ahead. They would take that lead into halftime, and while there were a handful of nervy moments, Racing had a deserved lead at the break.

Changes, another goal and a nervy ending

Following the break, Rosenior made three changes, bringing on Moreira, Doué, and Kendry Paez. His substitutions would have the desired effect, but not before Amor Layouni forced Racing's Mike Penders into a fine save (53'). After this heart-in-throat moment, the Alsatians got back into the match, and would shortly thereafter double their lead through Godo.

Moreira made a mazy run up the left, crossing to Amo-Ameyaw, who played the ball back to Godo, who stabbed home from close range (60'). Hacken would pull a goal back shortly after the restart, but Racing would hold on for a vital victory while staying fresh. The three points secured, Racing now sit seventh in the Conference League ahead of a big home match against Crystal Palace in three weeks' time. Before that, though, there's the aforementioned clash with Lille, with RCSA surely eager to climb back into the top four before the November international break.
