Le Havre take the lead but see a man sent off

After a thrilling draw between Paris Saint-Germain and RC Strasbourg on Friday night, Olympique de Marseille scarcely needed motivation as they welcomed AC Le Havre to the Vélodrôme on Saturday knowing that a victory would see them leapfrog those two sides into top spot. Thus, even with an important Champions League clash against Sporting Club de Portugal set for midweek, manager Roberto de Zerbi lined up a first choice eleven.

His braveness looked foolhardy at first glance though, as on 24 minutes, Yassine Kechta shredded the home defence down the left before beating reserve goalkeeper Jeffrey De Lange. Le Havre's joy was short-lived, however, despite Fodé Doucouré testing the Dutchman just before the half hour. Trying to close down Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the area, Gautier Lloris was adjudged to have handled the ball and was sent off. After Mason Greenwood converted from the spot, the match was level, but OM, having been tested, would come out the stronger in the second half.

Greenwood comes to life

Indeed, that penalty was only the beginning of a truly impressive display on the part of Greenwood, who scored three times in the span of just eight minutes midway through the second half. His second goal (67') took a lucky deflection off Doucouré, but his third, set up by youngster Robinio Vaz was as cunning a finish as one would like. After receiving a through ball, he showed a fine bit of skill to hold off his marker and shift the ball onto his other foot before finishing into the bottom corner.

His final goal saw Aubameyang turn provider, making it 4-1 with fifteen minutes to play but his teammates were far from done, as Vaz would profit from a clever knockdown by Aubameyang (88') to score his second of the season. Le Havre pulled a goal back through Abdoulaye Touré in added time, but Amir Murillo would seal the result with his second stoppage-time goal in three matches, lifting his side a point above PSG and two above Strasbourg ahead of Sunday's matches.

The stat: 34

It's been 34 years since a Marseille player has scored four goals in a Ligue 1 McDonald's match -- the last was Jean-Pierre Papin in 1991.
