Thomas Meunier was on the scoresheet for the second time in as many months for Belgium

With the October international break winding down, we catch up on what the stars of Ligue 1 McDonald's were up to across Africa and Europe today.

Europe: Meunier helps take Belgium top

In Group J, the Red Devils stretched their unbeaten run to seven matches with a 4-2 victory away to Wales. Thomas Meunier (LOSC Lille) was in the eleven and netted his side's second goal while Malick Fofana (Olympique Lyonnais) came off the bench in the second half. With two matches still to play, Belgium lead North Macedonia by a point. In Group D, a Ukraine side featuring PSG defender Ilia Zabarni won 2-1 over Azerbaijan, moving ahead of Iceland with the win and keeping destiny in their own hands ahead of next summer.

In Group B, Breel Embolo (Stade Rennais) played ninety minutes but was unable to help his side edge hosts Slovenia, a result that sees the Swiss still just three points ahead of Kosovo.

CAF: Tunisia CLOSE IN STYLE and more

It was a fine evening in Tunisia as the Eagles of Carthage beat Namibia 3-0 to top Group H. Both Montassar Talbi (FC Lorient) and Ali Abdi (OGC Nice) played ninety minutes for the hosts, with Abdi converting a penalty early in the first half. In Group D, a Cameroon side featuring Talbi's Lorient teammate Arthur Avom and defenders Jean-Charles Castelletto (FC Nantes) and Aboubakar Nagida (Stade Rennais) also kept a clean sheet, but the Indomitable Lions were only able to reach the playoffs.

Finally, former Ligue 1 players Ryan Mendes (LOSC Lille) and Nuno da Costa (RC Strasbourg) helped Cape Verde make history as the island nation qualified for the World Cup for the first time in its history at the expense of the aforementioned Cameroon. Tomorrow's final round sees massive matches for the likes of Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and more as they look to seal automatic qualification.
