The 7th Ligue 1 McDonald’s multiplex produced drama on every pitch this Sunday afternoon. Strasbourg ran riot at home to Angers, Le Havre fought back from two goals down to frustrate Rennes, while Nice held Monaco at bay despite being reduced to ten men.
The Côte d’Azur derby lived up to expectations at the Stade Louis-II, ending in a lively 2–2 draw between AS Monaco and OGC Nice.
Sofiane Diop, facing his former club, fired Nice ahead with a curling effort (32’) before converting from the spot (43’) to double the lead. But Ali Abdi’s red card moments earlier (35’) left the visitors with ten for nearly an hour — and Monaco eventually capitalised.
Ansu Fati, also from the penalty spot, reduced the deficit just before half-time (45+5’) and later levelled the score with another coolly taken effort (56’).
Despite heavy pressure and nine minutes of stoppage time, Nice clung on for a hard-earned point, their first away draw of the season.
It was an afternoon to remember for the Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace, who delivered their most convincing display of the season with a 5-0 demolition of Angers SCO.
Joaquin Panichelli set the tone with a well-taken brace (38’, 53’) — pouncing first on a Koffi error before doubling his tally after the break from a Lemaréchal assist.
Then came the avalanche: Ouattara (62’) made it three, before Godo (69’, 72’) struck twice to complete the rout. But for another string of fine saves from Hervé Koffi, the scoreline could have been even heavier.
With this emphatic victory, Strasbourg climb into the top three, level on points with PSG, Lyon, and Marseille.
At the Stade Océane, Rennes let a two-goal lead slip as Le Havre AC battled back to earn a 2–2 draw — a result that lifts the Normans out of the relegation zone.
First-half goals from Breel Embolo (11’) and Esteban Lepaul (30’) had put Rennes in control, but Soumaré (45+2’, pen.) struck before the break to revive home hopes.
After the restart, Embolo thought he had made it 3–1, but his goal was ruled out for offside — and Ndiaye (80’) punished the visitors with a composed volley to level the match.
Rennes pushed for a winner late on, but Didier Digard’s side held firm to earn a valuable point in their survival fight.
