Two goals in injury time from Emersonn see TFC seal a first victory away at Lyon since 1966

Toulouse FC pulled off a remarkable turnaround on Sunday afternoon, claiming a 2-1 win away to Olympique Lyonnais — their first victory on Lyon soil since 1966. Two late goals from Emersonn overturned Malick Fofana’s opener to hand Carles Martínez Novell’s men a historic three points.

Fofana opens the scoring in style

After a dominant first half from Lyon, the hosts took the lead in the 24th minute. Following a slick, one-touch passing move, Martin Satriano found Fofana, who finished neatly at the near post. The Belgian forward’s goal was the 1,000th scored at the Groupama Stadium in all competitions.

Lyon continued to control possession after the break but failed to convert their superiority into further chances. That lack of ruthlessness was punished late on. In the 87th minute, Emersonn drew Toulouse level with a deflected strike that looped beyond Greif, before the Brazilian headed home a Vossah corner deep into added time to complete the comeback.

The result ends a run of 17 league meetings without defeat for Lyon against Toulouse and halts the visitors’ five-game winless streak in Ligue 1 McDonald’s. For Lyon, it is a first home loss of the campaign and a missed chance to move top of the table ahead of Paris Saint-Germain.

THE STAT: TFC march on

Toulouse have 10 points after seven Ligue 1 2025/26 matches (W3 D1 L3), their highest tally at this stage since returning to the top-flight in 2022/23.
