Copa América Recap: Brazil, Colombia Cruise to Victory

Colombia 3-0 Costa Rica

Former AS Monaco standout James Rodríguez was again one of the stars for Los Cafeteros in their second straight win of the tournament as Colombia punched their ticket to the knockout stages. Liverpool star scored the opening goal after a goal from Luis Díaz in the 31st minute as the Colombians went into halftime taking a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Colombia recorded two goals, with Rodríguez providing an assist on the goal from Davinson Sánchez in the 59th minute. Minutes later, Jhon Córdoba scored for the 3-0 lead and eventual win as Colombia took the win and all three points.

Colombia and Brazil will meet on Tuesday to determine the group winner. A win by the Brazilian side will see them advance as group winners while a draw or win for Colombia is enough to top the group.

Brazil 4-1 Paraguay

After a scoreless result against Costa Rica, Brazil, who had Paris Saint-Germain's Marquinhos in their starting 11, found their scoring boots on Matchday 2, but the match against Paraguay didn't start off well. Former Olympique Lyonnais star Lucas Paquetá missed a penalty kick shot, but the Brazilian squad bounced back with a goal from Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior. The 23-year-old scored a brace in the first half as the Seleção took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Paquetá had an opportunity to redeem himself as he took a penalty kick shot, and this time, the West Ham United player converted. Dorival Júnior and his team secured a 4-1 win and now look to top the group when they face Colombia on Matchday 3.
