Already a Danish international aged just 19, Lucas Høgsberg has joined RC Strasbourg -- learn more about the central defender in our latest profile.
Born in Farum, just north of Copenhagen on the Danish coast, Høgsberg joined local side Nordsjælland at the age of three, and progressed steadily through the ranks. Making his debut aged 15 in a cup match, it took time for him to become a regular for the first team, only first playing regularly last season, but once he played regularly, his talent shone clearly.
Speaking at the time to the Danish press, Høgsberg averred that his strength lies in his self-belief, something uncommon for such a young player in defence. "I don't want to change my style of play. I play as I am - whether it's on the national team or at the club. That's why I'm called on -- there's no need to change my style of play." His strong play soon caught the notice of a host of top European clubs, but he made his choice to sign for Racing's ambitious project.

Capable of playing at both right back and centrally, Høgsberg was quickly handed a debut for his new club on Sunday, as Strasbourg faced FC Metz in a derby to start the Ligue 1 McDonald's season. Playing in a back three against a Grenats side eager to impress in front of their fans, he showed impressive composure, skilfully building play from the back and showing strong positional intelligence. With RCSA winning 1-0, he was singled out for praise by coach Liam Rosenior in the dressing room post-match, having quickly embodied the young manager's high-pressing ethos.
As the Alsatian side turns towards their match against Danish side Brondby in the UEFA Europa Conference League, Høgsberg will no doubt be an important piece of the equation for the team.
