For the first time in years, the Côte d’Azur derby between OGC Nice and AS Monaco – separated by just 22km – will not be the shortest journey of the season. With Paris FC returning to the top flight after 35 years away, Ligue 1 McDonald’s now boasts a capital-city derby. With just 40 metres between the Parc des Princes and Stade Jean-Bouin, PSG and PFC will record the shortest “away trip” in history on Matchdays 17 and 34.
Another derby ranks third on the list: LOSC and RC Lens, with 37km between their stadiums. A fourth trip under 100km appears this season too – Angers SCO to FC Nantes (91km).
At the other end of the spectrum, some journeys are true expeditions. Brest will face two away trips of over 1,000km – to Monaco and Nice – and four of the five longest in the division overall.
Yet Eric Roy’s side (602km average per away game) are not the biggest travellers this season. That distinction belongs to AS Monaco (647km on average), closely followed by OGC Nice (642km) and Olympique de Marseille (616km).

Thanks to their central location and their virtually adjacent home grounds, Paris FC and PSG will average just 371km per away trip – by far the lowest in the league.
