Lucas Chevalier has become PSG's first summer signing, joining the capital side from LOSC Lille -- learn more about the Frenchman in our latest profile.
Lucas Chevalier is a name well-known to devotees of Ligue 1 McDonald's thanks to his stellar play over the last few seasons with LOSC Lille, but despite his having been named as the UNFP Goalkeeper of the year in May, his talents may not be as globally known, but Ligue 1 McDonald's is here to tell his story.
Born in the coastal city of Calais, played with a pair of local clubs, SC Coquellois and AS Marck, before joining Les Dogues at the age of 13 in 2014. His place in the club's academy was impressive enough to make him a regular for France's youth sides, as he earned his first caps at U-16 level. A part of the team that won the title in 2020/21, Chevalier remained a player full of promise, but with Mike Maignan in goal for the first team, he needed to go on loan to gain professional experience.
He wouldn't have to go far to do so, joining Valenciennes -- just 50 kM away -- in Ligue 2 where he thrived, keeping nine clean sheets in thirty appearances and being named the division's best young goalkeeper after recovering from a knee injury.

With Maignan departing that summer for AC Milan, Chevalier's performances had earned him the full confidence of the team, and he was the starter from the jump in 2022/23. Notably impressing with a saved penalty (a specialty of his) in his first Derby du Nord against Lens, Chevalier went from strength to strength for Les Dogues. Despite the departure of Sven Botman, the team conceded just 44 times, finishing fifth and reaching the Coupe de France Round of 16.
The following campaign saw the team finish one spot better (with the second-best defence) and notably reach the quarterfinals of the Conference League, marking Lille's deepest-ever run in a European competition. Last season was arguably his best, though, with Lille reaching the Round of 16 of the Champions League with notable victories over the likes of Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid frustrated by his strong play.
While he's yet to be capped for France, Chevalier has been included in the squad for Les Bleus on several occasions, and a senior debut can't be far away, especially if he's able to help Luis Enrique's side retain the Ligue 1 McDonald's title.
