Olympique de Marseille have announced the signing of Brazilian winger Igor Paixão from Dutch side Feyenoord. The Brazil U23 international has signed a five-year contract with the Provence club, and joins for a club-record fee.
The Brazilian will be one of the most expensive signings in OM history, and it sees Paixão make a return to the UEFA Champions League, a competition in which he featured 17 times for Feyenoord — scoring 2 goals and delivering 5 assists, all during the 2024-25 campaign.
AT A GLANCE: Igor Paixão (OM)
Age: 25
Nationality: Brazil
Position: Left-winger
Clubs: Feyenoord, Coritiba FC, Londrina PR
Honours: Eredivisie (22-23), Dutch Cup (23-24), Dutch Super Cup (2025)
Last season he was crowned Dutch Footballer of the Year. At international level, he was called up for the Brazilian Olympic team for the first time in August 2023. In February 2025, he was included in a preliminary selection of 52 players for the national team.
Despite strong competition from Premier League newcomers Leeds United, Marseille were able to finalise the deal after submitting a bid worth a club-record amount. Over three seasons in the Eredivisie, Paixão played a key role in Feyenoord’s attacking setup, contributing 18 goals and 19 assists across all competitions last season. He also helped the Rotterdam club win the KNVB Cup and reach the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
Born in Curia, Brazil, and a product of Coritiba, Paixão made the move to Europe in 2022 and quickly adapted to Dutch football. Now, he becomes the fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Facundo Medina, Angel Gomes, CJ Egan-Riley, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Olympien club. The Brazilian is set to wear the number 14 for Les Phocéens next season!
"Beyond the statistics, he has a character forged by humility and determination: this winger carries the weight of his origins with pride," said Marseille in a club statement. Adding: "He is a complete player, capable of breaking through opposing lines, thinking about his positioning, combining with his teammates while working passionately on his finishing."
