Otávio came up through Flamengo’s youth system, but only made one appearance for the first team. After being in the Brazilian club’s youth system for five years, he would depart on two separate loan stints to Sampaio Corrêa and Famalicão.
With the Portuguese club, the center-back would establish himself as a first-team player and garner experience playing in Europe. After two years with Famalicão, he would make the jump to one of the prominent clubs in Portugal, FC Porto.
In his lone season with Porto, the 23-year-old made 45 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and recording two assists. Moreover, the defender also lifted two trophies during his time with Dragões, winning the Portuguese Super Cup and Portuguese Cup.
Paris FC’s newest defender went on Instagram to say goodbye to the Porto supporters and the club, which allowed him to garner that experience at a major club where the demand to win is high.
“Thank you, [Porto!] The time has come to say goodbye to a club that marked my career and my life. There were trophies, lessons, and unforgettable moments wearing this historic jersey. I’m grateful for every title, every match alongside our fans, and all the love from the Portista Nation. I take with me great memories and eternal gratitude. Thank you to everyone who was part of this story!”
While saying goodbye, Otávio also took the opportunity to express his excitement about the Paris FC project. The Ligue 1 McDonald’s newcomers look to establish themselves as a regular in France’s top flight, and one that is challenging for European competitions and trophies.
“A new chapter begins! Very happy and motivated to be part of [Paris FC]. May it be a season full of success and great moments!”
Paris FC are counting on Otávio to be a key piece of their defense moving forward. The Brazilian is set to begin his journey in French football and will get his first taste of Ligue 1 McDonald's action on August 17 against Angers SCO.
