Jordan James and Wales narrowly lost to Belgium, 4-3, on Monday night

On a busy Monday in UEFA qualification, several Ligue 1 players were in action across the continent and beyond -- catch up on all the latest action.

A brave effort by James and company

After the drama of the UEFA Nation League final on Sunday, there was more action in store this evening with a busy day of fixtures headlined by Wales taking on Belgium. Despite a first international goal from former FC Nantes winger Sorba Thomas and a strong display in midfield from Stade Rennais' Jordan James, the visitors would eventually fall to a late winner by Kevin de Bruyne, 4-3, a result that leaves them second in their qualifying group. For Belgium, LOSC Lille's Thomas Meunier played the first fifteen minutes before being forced off.

In Croatia, Lyon defender Duje Caleta-Car helped the hosts to an impressive 5-1 win over Czechia, helping the veteran side continue their perfect start to play in Group L.  Stade Rennais and Norway defender Leo Ostigard played for his side in a vital 1-0 win over Estonia, coming off the bench to help them extend their own perfect start in Group I, building on from a landmark win over Italy last week.

Friendly Roundup

Elsewhere around the globe, several players from the French top flight took part in international friendlies. In Kosovo, Stade Rennais defender Warmed Omari featured for the Comoros, along with Nantes and Marseille youngsters Adel Mahamoud and Raimane Daou, but their play couldn't prevent a 4-2 to loss to a home team missing the injured Edon Zhegrova. Finally, in a friendly on Sunday, DR Congo beat Madagascar 3-1, with Lorient's Gedeon Kalulu and Marseille's Chancel Mbemba both featuring.
