Georgia and FC Metz forward Georges Mikautadze celebrates

Türkiye 3-1 Georgia

In what would be a thrilling match between Türkiye and Georgia, Vincenzo Montella and his team secured the opening goal to take a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. The Crusaders responded courtesy of a goal from  FC Metz standout Georges Mikautadze in the 32nd minute to level the scoring 1-1.

There would be no players in the starting 11 for the Turkish side with links to Ligue 1, but that changed in the second half with LOSC Lille midfielder Yusuf Yazıcı coming onto the pitch to play 11 minutes. Former Lille defender Mehmet Zeki Çelik also made an appearance off the bench to play 13 minutes. On Georgia’s side, Bordeaux midfielder Zuriko Davitashvili came on in the second half, too, and played 17 minutes.

Türkiye went ahead with a goal from Real Madrid’s Arda Güler in the 65th minute, making it 2-1. The Crescent-Stars secured their victory with a third goal in second-half stoppage time, ensuring they took all three points.

Portugal 2-1 Czechia

Czechia opened the scoring to take a surprising 1-0 lead over Portugal. Despite conceding the first goal of the match, Roberto Martínez and his team received luck thanks to an own goal to level the scoring at 1-1. Francisco Conceição would score in the second-half stoppage time for the game-winning goal for the Portuguese side.

As far as the Ligue 1 connections, they all came from Portugal as Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes and Vitinha featured in the starting 11. Former AS Monaco star Bernardo Silva also had a place in the starting lineup, as did former LOSC Lille winger Rafael Leão. Despite not scoring or registering an assist, Vitinha was named Man of the Match for the contest.
