Despite the Gunners needing to score to level the aggregate score, it was PSG who opened the scoring in the 27th minute thanks to a fantastic strike from Fabián Ruiz.
After Arsenal failed to properly clear a free kick, Ruiz controlled the ball with his chest and fired a volley from the edge of the box that beat David Raya to hand the home side a two-goal lead on aggregate.
Both teams went into halftime with PSG hold a one-goal lead in the contest. The scoring would pick up in the second half as PSG had a major scoring opportunity when a handball was called after a VAR review.
Vitinha would step into the box, but Raya made the save to deny the Ligue 1 side a goal to increase their aggregate lead. Despite the miss from the midfielder, PSG responded thanks to a goal from Achraf Hakimi.
Hakimi drove into the box and exchanged a one-two with Ousmane Dembélé before unleashing a quick shot that beat Raya low at the post. Although it was a party atmosphere at the Parc des Princes after the Hakimi goal, Arsenal didn't go away.
A fierce duel between Leandro Trossard and Marquinhos was won by the Belgian, who crossed to the near post for Bukayo Saka, who finished the job after a scramble to give the Gunners hope.
Even though Saka got Arsenal on the scoreboard, it wasn't enough as PSG secured the win and advanced to the final. After the match, Hakimi shared his thoughts to Canal+ on the win and heading to Munich to face Inter Milan.
"It's incredible. When you see the atmosphere... we worked so hard for this moment. Many people didn’t believe in us, but we put in the work. We’re a family, and we deserve this moment. All the fans, Parisians, our families, everyone who supported us... we're very proud of this match. Luis Enrique has done an amazing job. Since he arrived at PSG, it took him a year to build a great team. There’s a lot of work behind all this. He’s a genius."
After defeating Arsenal, PSG have become the third French club to qualify for a second Champions League (European Cup) final, following Stade de Reims (1956 and 1959) and Olympique de Marseille (1991 and 1993).
