The Algerian forward has made a positive impression at Marseille after switching clubs during the winter transfer window.

The life of a footballer can move quickly at times. Only 10 days ago Amine Gouiri made his move from Stade Rennais to Olympique de Marseille, but he has already started to make an impression for Les Phocéens in his first minutes for the Olympique club.

He hasn't scored yet for Marseille, but Gouri has been showing a great deal of versatility and has already bagged three assists in two matches. During yesterday's match against Angers, the Algerian international popped up with not one but two decisive moments. He helped Adrien Rabiot open the scoring with a great weighted cross for the Frenchman to head home the opening goal (69'), before smartly providing Neal Maupay with the assist to tap in Marseille's second (74'). A good understanding with Maupay seemed to help Les Olympiens in the latter stages of the game, as a growing partnership with Adrien Rabiot is also bearing fruits.

This builds on Gouiri's debut appearance where he provided a somewhat fortunate assist for Mason Greenwood to equalise against Lyon in a match which saw OM energised after his introduction onto the pitch. Marseille went on to win the game 3-2 in dramatic fashion.

Marseille manager Roberto de Zerbi was full of compliments for Gouiri in his post-match press conference at Stade Raymond Kopa. "He's very talented. I don't think he realises his potential," praised the Italian tactician. So far the striker has been asked to play in the number 10 role, and has sometimes been asked to drift outside on the left.

"I feel very much at home at OM, I have been made to feel very welcome by everyone," said Gouiri himself following the match in an interview with DAZN. "The coach is telling me to play with pleasure, and trust my instinct in front of goal. It's a family here, the staff, the players, everyone is together and it shows on the pitch."

Olympique de Marseille's next test in Ligue 1 McDonald's will be up against Saint-Étienne at home next Saturday (17:00 CET).
