Recap: Marseille, Nantes secure impressive road wins

The later games on Ligue 1's Saturday schedule saw FC Nantes and Olympique de Marseille secure two impressive road wins. Did you miss any of the action? Here's a recap to get you caught up.

FC Nantes 3-1 Montpellier Hérault SC

Matthis Abline opened the scoring in the 24th minute to give Nantes an early lead, but Montpellier responded six minutes later as Akor Adams scored in the 30th minute to level the scoring 1-1.

Both teams were tied 1-1 heading into halftime, but after a VAR review, Nantes was awarded a penalty kick in the first half stoppage time. Moses Simon converted the shot, and the away side went into the dressing room with a 2-1 advantage.

Montpellier generated five total shots in the second half as they looked for the game-tying goal. Nantes found the insurance goal in the 85th minute thanks to a goal from Mostafa Mohamed as Les Canaris took a 3-1 lead and left with all three points.

The win puts Nantes in second place after Saturday's action as they have secured seven points from the three matches the club have played so far this 2024-25 Ligue 1 season.

Marseille 3-1 Toulouse FC

Mason Greenwood continues to make a seamless transition to Ligue 1 as the former Manchester United player scored in the 16th and 17th minute, with both goals coming off assists from Luis Henrique to give OM a quick 2-0.

Toulouse's troubles deepened as they were reduced to ten men after Frank Magri was sent off in the 27th minute. Les Violets dealt themselves another blow in the 52nd minute after Charlie Cresswell scored an own-goal to give Marseille a 3-0 lead.

Shavy Babicka scored in the 90th minute to make the scoreline 3-1, but it was too late as OM left Stadium de Toulouse with all three points and are currently in first place following Saturday's action with seven points.

After his brace against Toulouse, Greenwood now has five goals scored in three games while Henrique has two goals and two assists.
