Ligue 1 set a new record for average attendance on Matchday 2 this weekend, as the 2024/2025 season gets off to a historic start in the stands.
Ligue 1 attendance figures are off to a flying start! Following on from an historic 2023/2024 season, McDonald's Ligue 1 has already broken a new record for average attendance (36,652 spectators per match) on Matchday 2 of the championship, played over the weekend of 24 August. The previous record was set on Matchday 25 last season, with an average attendance of 32,338 per game.
In total, no fewer than 329,864 spectators turned out at the nine stadiums of France's footballing elite on Matchday 2 of the McDonald's Ligue 1.
Another sign of unprecedented interest in the French championship, with an average of 27,518 spectators over the first two days (495,321 spectators in total over the first 18 matches), this is quite simply the best start ever for McDonald's Ligue 1 stadiums!
At the same time, while most clubs are continuing their season ticket campaigns, the number of season ticket holders has already reached a record level (an average of 17,469 per club). A total of 314,441 fans have already signed up to follow their favourite club. By way of comparison, the last record was set at the end of the subscription campaign for the 2023/2024 season (17,200 subscribers on average per club).
