After a somewhat slow start to the mercato, prior to the signing of João Neves last week, things are continuing to roar into life in Paris as the defending champions announced their third permanent signing of the summer in the form of Ecuadorian international centre back Willian Pacho. A product of the academy of one of his home nation's most decorated clubs, Independiente del Calle, Pacho arrives in the French capital off the back of an impressive season with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, signing a contract through 2029.
With fifteen caps for his country already, despite being just 22, he comes to Ligue 1 fresh off having helped his side secure European football, and eager to do the same with Luis Enrique's team. The first Ecuadorian to play for Paris, he joins countryman Jhoanner Chávez of Lens as members of El Tri plying their trade in France. Addressing the impact of his arrival in the capital on PSG's following in his homeland, Pacho underscored the combination of passion and fervor frequently on display there, telling the club's website: "In Ecuador, people really love football, they live it with real passion. And they're very happy to see players from their country in Europe. They'll be very happy to know I'm going to play for Paris Saint-Germain. They'll be 100% fans of the club."

Pacho wasn't the only promising defender on the move in Ligue 1 this weekend, though, as AS Monaco also reinforced their ranks, continuing a busy mercato that has already seen them bring in Lamine Camara, George Ilenikhena and more. Following on the footsteps of Camara, who arrived from FC Metz, the Principality side have continued to shop in France, bringing in Christian Mawissa from Toulouse FC. The 19-year-old, who has been capped consistently for France at youth level, arrives to coach Adi Hütter's side able to play both centrally and on the right in defence, and will add depth as the club return to the UEFA Champions League following a six-year absence.
Finally, Will Still's RC Lens are also readying themselves for European football, and completed two moves to add depth to their side, bringing in Angolan international forward M'Bala Nzola on loan from AC Fiorentina and defensive midfielder Hamzat Odejiran, a Nigerian youth international from Debrecen.
